Stop 1: Tower of London
Entry ticket
One of London's most iconic landmarks on the north bank of the Thames, and perhaps the one with the bloodiest history. The medieval castle is home to the Crown Jewels and their protectors, the Yeoman Warders, better known as the Beefeaters.
Stop 2: Tower Bridge
A Grade I listed bascule and suspension bridge, built between 1886 and 1894 to improve access to the East End. In its day it was the most sophisticated bascule bridge in the world.
Stop 3: St Dunstan in the East Church Garden
A quiet escape from the bustle of the city, where history stands still. The Grade I listed church was first built around 1100 and was severely damaged in the Great Fire of London in 1666.
Stop 4: Sky Garden
Pre-booking
A foliage-filled viewing gallery on the 43rd floor of the Walkie Talkie, with floor-to-ceiling windows over London's rooftops and an open-air terrace looking across the Thames.
Stop 5: Leadenhall Market
A Victorian covered market of cobbled walkways and glass roofs, with a history dating back to the 14th century, making it one of the oldest markets in London.
Stop 6: The Gherkin
Formally 30 St Mary Axe, and named for its distinctive shape, this Swiss Re headquarters was London's first ecological tall building. At its summit, a club room offers a 360-degree panorama across the capital.
Stop 7: Borough Market
Widely considered London's oldest food market, trading on its current site since 1756, with over 100 stalls across about 4.5 acres.
Stop 8: St Paul's Cathedral
Entry ticket
Sir Christopher Wren's 17th-century Baroque masterpiece and arguably London's most iconic landmark, sitting on the city's highest point, Ludgate Hill.
Stop 9: Millennium Bridge
A 325m suspension footbridge across the Thames, designed by Foster & Partners and Sir Anthony Caro with Arup, and London's first new pedestrian bridge for over a century.
Stop 10: London Eye
One of the world's tallest observation wheels and one of the highest viewpoints in the capital, built to mark the turn of the millennium.
Stop 11: Big Ben & Houses of Parliament
One of England's best-known landmarks. Strictly, Big Ben is the great hour bell, but the name is commonly used for the whole clock tower at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament.
